Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX é um port quase fiel da versão de arcade com tempos de carregamento mínimos e todas as quadros e sprites intactos. Todos os personagens adicionais da versão GBA, bem como Ingrid do Capcom Fighting Evolution, estão presentes. Os personagens adicionados agora possuem suas próprias tramas narrativas dentro do jogo e finais exclusivos. O modo Dramatic Battle nesta versão é o único onde tanto o jogador quanto os personagens de parceiro podem ser selecionados individualmente, permitindo qualquer combinação de personagens. Ele também inclui o modo Reverse Dramatic Battle da versão Saturn e um exclusivo modo tag chamado Variable Battle.
