SaGa Scarlet Grace é um RPG de mundo aberto com combate por turnos. O mapa do mundo está cheio de eventos que afetam a história. Não há dungeon. Existem quatro protagonistas para escolher e a história mudará em grande parte dependendo do personagem jogado. Uma única partida pode levar entre 30-60 horas. Cada personagem que você encontra na história pode ser um aliado, mas você tem seis aliados no início e só pode ter uma equipe de cinco pessoas por vez. Existem nove tipos de armas que podem ser usadas por qualquer personagem.
