Em Summon Night: Swordcraft 2, o jogador é um órfão da clã Colthearts criado por uma Craftknight (um forjador/guerreiro). O personagem almeja tornar-se também uma Craftknight. O protagonista do jogo, seja Edgar Colthearts ou Aera Colthearts, ambos Edge Fencers, encontram-se no local de um ruído abandonado onde um violento Summon Beast chamado Goura é despertado. Para proteger sua nova família, Edgar/Aera está ligado a um Summon Beast selvagem (summon errante) e empreende uma jornada para reencerrar as ruínas.
